Our problem… briefly… Producing 100% fully mature, traditionally sun dried, hand processed coffee is an enormous amount of work, and a very high risk endeavor… picking 100% fully mature cherries or hand sorting the cream out, is not in the mind set of Mexican producers… Mexico has one of the lowest maturity standard requirements in the industry. (They allow a lot of immature cherries!) They also receive more money per pound because ~the ‘US dollar influence’~ here, more so than, the further from here that you get.

Additionally we are our own worst enemy, from a certain point of view, as we force the washed coffee buyers to pay more to get coffee in our villages, which forces us to pay more, (twice as much) because we guarantee our farmers receive double what the water processors pay. So we end up shooting ourselves in the foot in order to accomplish the impossible.

We can not compete with the big water processed producers paying up front, the farmers get less, but they get the $ right in the hand instead of the 50% down and monthly installments as you, our customers buy it. They just opt out if we don’t make it worth their while to do it the harder, labor intensive, ‘right way’…. bottom line, ‘the rightness’ of it is not why they sell us cherries, most are like everyone else, they follow the money.

CAPULIN has established a policy that is truly; Fair to the Farmers, Fair to the Producers, Fair to the men and women who labor for You, Fair to the Environment, Fair to our Consumers and Fair to the quality of the Medicine available in the Coffee’s Seeds.

It is the only way to provide the highest quality coffee available, anywhere, at any price.

If CAPULIN does not maintain this standard:

1. We break our own policy…
2. We fail to provide the highest standard coffee product on the market…
3. We can’t stay in business because the farmers will just take their coffee cherries to the water processors and take less money for less work.
4. We also lose heart because we are unable to demonstrate that Coffee is the single industry capable of supporting a new economic paradigm, and that by drinking ‘natural coffee, better coffee, we can redirect the world’s second largest cash flow, back into the planet and her most impoverished inhabitants.

As an alternative, we are simultaneously introducing. ‘Renaci’, the (Rebirth) of a farmer produced and tended coffee, packaged in regular paper bags at only $9.45 per pound or in Fancy Paks at $9.95, plus shipping. Please contact us and order a bag to try.

Renaci is not CAPULIN, but it IS good coffee and it does help the farmers, plus it offers, a more affordable high caffeine, ‘natural’ coffee for those whose budgets are satisfied with knowing their choice of coffee is based on sane and sound, principles which are socially and environmentally appropriate.

A comparison chart follows:

Renaci:

Contains a variety of Arabica species Contains a variety of levels of maturity.

Renaci is Sun dried and tended under varying conditions by the farmers.

The farmers and their families provide the labor without constant vigilance or supervision.

While we can’t guarantee Renaci to be the finest coffee available, as we do with CAPULIN, conditions are just too variable; the farmers are urged to maintain as high a quality standard as possible.

CAPULIN:

Contains 100% Arabica Tipica, Ethiopian rootstock. Regionally referred to as Creolla

Contains 100% fully mature cherries only.

CAPULIN is dry processed, It is mounded and covered nightly to protect it from absorbing dew moisture, tended by hand, and re-spread in the sun, daily.

CAPULIN is constantly cared for under the highest quality standards in the industry.

Our family, along with registered and insured village workers provides the labor.

CAPULIN'S satisfaction is Guaranteed,

http://www.capulin.com/oursimpleguarantee.html

as the sweetest, least bitter Arabica Tipica coffee available which simultaneously provides the farmers with the highest price per pound for their Arabica Tipica coffee cherries, more than in any coffee producing nation. CAPULIN the Fairest Traded coffee on the planet!

We’re still writing to everyone and redoing the website. Some easy links are listed below for your convenience.

We assure you this increase is entirely beyond our control, it's just one of those things which arrives, and must be dealt with, in the fairest and most equitable means possible.

We thank you and appreciate your support of the CAPULIN EFFORT. We are providing the ultimate in quality, socially appropriate and environmentally sound coffee!
